5,000 miles marker near Midwest, Wyoming

Good Morning from Billings, Montana:

I am taking a break from driving this a.m. to sit here in the Flying J parking lot. I am able to use my Flying J wifi account to use my computer. But, the real reason I am sitting here is to listen to my Sirius Satellite Radio for awhile. On the NASCAR channel, they are doing a special program from Petty Enterprises in North Carolina. They are celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of Richard Petty's first race in Columbia, South Carolina on July 12, 1958. I can do two things at once.

Yesterday, on I-25 at mile marker 217, between Casper, and, believe it or not, Midwest, Wyoming my odometer turned to 80,302. This marks 5,000 miles since I pulled out from my house in Clinton.
I will be in Beach, North Dakota tonight at the Flying J. This is just at the North Dakota/Montana state line. From there, tomorrow, I will go up to the Theodore Roosevelt National Monument in North Dakota, leaving the Interstate for awhile, as I head on up to Portal, North Dakota at the Canadian boarder. This is my goal to start driving at that spot, the very northern start of U.S. 52, and follow it all the way southeast, staying off the Interstate as much as possible. U.S. 52 ends in Charleston, South Carolina. I can't go all the way to Charleston, South Carolina on this trip. I will stop in Indianapolis. U.S. 52, before the Interstates, coming from Kentland and Lafayette, Indiana was Lebanon Road, Zionsville Road, then Lafayette Road coming into downtown Indianapolis. Leaving Indy, toward Cincinnati, U.S. 52 was and Brookville Road. I am posting some pics from yesterday. The town pictures, including the "Johnson County Courthouse" (for my cousins) are scenes from Bufflo, Wyomig.
